About “5 billion cosmetics units are manufactured” in Europe, every year.
With a market value in Europe of 516 billion €, the three sectors in which FuturEnzyme is focused (detergents, cosmetics and textiles) support 5 million jobs; however, they have a very high impact on greenhouse gases (e.g., CO2) and chemical emissions and the consumption of large amounts of energy, water and chemicals.
Adding enzymes to detergents, and use enzymes to process textiles and cosmetic ingredients, can reduce CO2 emissions by a 42 million tons/year, can reduce energy consumption by an equivalent of half a million tons of petroleum, and can safeguard 16000 million litres of water across the EU.
